Abstract

Social studies learning in class VII MTs Negeri 2 Jember in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year has not been maximized. Teachers are still fixated on conventional and monotonous learning methods. The application of the Peer Tutoring type of cooperative method is one of the methods that allows students to play an active role and work together in groups by encouraging students to become peer tutors in learning, and show their abilities, so that they learn with enthusiasm, and have a positive effect on student learning outcomes. This research was conducted in several cycles. The number of cycles that will be carried out for each Classroom Action Research. The research design used is the Hopkins cycle model. The techniques used to collect data in this study are observation, interviews, and tests. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, in general it can be concluded that the application of the Peer Tutoring type cooperative method is suitable when used to solve problems in learning to make sketches and area maps that depict objects in class VII A MTs Negeri 2 Jember even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, shown from the increase in student learning activity from bad to good. Student learning outcomes have also increased to be higher than before.
